Cox Construction is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful execution of mechanical construction projects from award through closeout. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional looking to develop their project management career while working alongside experienced leaders on a variety of commercial and industrial projects.
Reporting to the Project Manager and Operations Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will assist with project coordination, procurement, documentation management, scheduling, subcontractor communication, financial tracking, and project closeout activities. This role is essential to maintaining project organization, supporting field operations, and helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

What You'll Do
  • Support Project Managers in the day-to-day administration and coordination of construction projects.
  • Prepare, maintain, and track project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, punch lists, and closeout materials.
  • Coordinate procurement activities to ensure materials and equipment are delivered according to project schedules.
  • Assist with project scheduling, financial tracking, reporting, and administrative functions.
  • Attend project meetings and communicate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Support field operations by coordinating information and helping resolve project issues.
  • Monitor project progress and contribute to maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Track and manage project closeout documentation, including warranties and as-built drawings.
  • Utilize construction management software and project management tools to maintain accurate project records.
  • Help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with company standards.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in construction project coordination, project administration, or a related role.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Project.
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to active job sites.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • OSHA 30 certification and experience with commercial, industrial, or residential construction projects are a plus.
