Overview
The Director/Pastor of Connection, Community, and Care serves the congregation by overseeing the associated ministries of the Church. Working with the Associate Pastor, the Member Care Team, the Assistant Director of Connection and Community to shepherd newcomers toward belief and baptized membership in the church, overseeing community group ministry, developing community group leadership, and leading the Deacon Board alongside the Associate Pastor to provide for care ministry in the church. The successful person in this position will be good at identifying and training leaders, organizing and motivating people, and having energetic vision for the connection, community, and care ministries of the church.
This position may be filled as either a Director or an ordained pastoral role, depending on the credentials, experience, and vocational path of the selected candidate. We welcome applicants who are interested in serving in this role as a Director, as well as ordained pastors and candidates who may wish to pursue ordination.
Key Responsibilities
CONNECTION
This person will facilitate the journey from first time guest to new member providing structural leadership and shepherding.
  • Welcoming: Oversee Sunday guest experience including hospitality.
  • Connecting: Create and sustain best practices for guest follow up and invitation into next steps of connection with WCPC ministries.
  • Belonging: Help newcomers plug into community, service, and membership.

COMMUNITY
Cultivate leadership and build structures for healthy and growth-producing community at WCPC. This includes oversight of adult ministries and community groups.
  • Recruit, coach, and care for Community Group leaders.
  • Support the multiplication of existing groups and facilitate the launch of new groups.
  • Supervise and support Lay-Led ministry leaders and their ministries, including men's and women's ministries.
  • Coordinate with staff to maintain appropriate calendar and cohesive approach to staff led adult ministries.

CARE
Work with the Associate Pastor to provide leadership to the Deacons as well as direction, leadership and training for the ministries of:
  • Prayer
  • Homebound and Hospital Visitation
  • Memorials

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as ministry or organizational needs develop.
