Located at the corner of 16th and Q Streets NW, the EDCJCC boasts a 65,000 square foot historic building offering diverse programs including theater, cinema, social, educational, recreational, professional meetings, and child and family events.

About the role:

The EDCJCC is seeking a Part-Time, Seasonal to serve as the lead point person for external event clients on evenings and weekends. The Event Assistant is responsible for ensuring the EDCJCC’s spaces and equipment are set per the specifications provided by the Event Manager and/or clients. The Event Assistant interfaces with clients, external vendors, and EDCJCC staff with warmth and impeccable professionalism. The Event Assistant works closely with the Event Manager and the Facilities team.

 

KEY RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Serve as the event point-person as assigned by the Event Manager.
  • Ensure contracted services and equipment are confirmed and available.
  • Assist with set-ups and breakdowns for events and ensure quality, timely completion by operations crew based on the room layout and setup forms created by the Event Manager.
  • Greet clients and show them to their event space(s). 
  • Run basic A/V for events including sound, lights, streaming, and screen projections.
  • Occasionally correspond with EDCJCC team members through Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • If required, act as an event coordinator by aiding in all communication with clients, agencies, and businesses throughout the event to facilitate a smooth experience.
  • Ensure event clients follow the rules and regulations of the EDCJCC for the duration of their event.
  • Coordinate with the Event Manager so that all needs are met for the use of spaces and rooms for all external events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or relevant work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years (2) years of experience in hospitality or a client services-focused position.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and organization skills.
  • A passion for providing outstanding customer experiences.
  • Available to support events on evenings and weekends. 
  • Required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, lift 40 lbs., and assist in the set up and break down of events.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Part-time, seasonal; year-round; on-site.
  • Competitive salary range $21-$23 per hour.
