Job description

The HR Generalist is responsible for managing the day-to-day human resources needs of the company. This role emphasizes hands-on execution across employee policy, benefits administration, compliance, onboarding, and employee relations and development, while supporting leadership with practical guidance and maintaining a strong company culture. The role operates independently and reports to the CFO.


Responsibilities

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including offer letters, new hire paperwork, exits, and coordination of final pay and COBRA/benefits.
  • Administer and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook; ensure consistent application and ongoing updates.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws; flag risk areas and provide practical recommendations to leadership.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the HRIS, ensuring accurate employee data, reporting, and documentation.
  • Support recruiting and staffing efforts including job descriptions, postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and offer preparation.
  • Guide managers in creating internal development plans and growth trajectories for departments.
  • Process payrolls which include bi-weekly, quarterly bonuses, and other ad hoc payments as necessary and record necessary entries.
  • Record payroll & benefit related accruals including compensation, 401k, taxes, quarterly bonuses, and profit sharing.
  • Administer company benefits programs, including Open Enrollment, ongoing enrollments and changes, broker coordination, and employee inquiries.
  • Support compensation benchmarking, pay range development, and annual compensation and performance review processes in partnership with the CFO.
  • Produce annual total compensation statements.
  • Track and report on basic HR metrics such as turnover, headcount, PTO usage, and benefits participation, as needed for leadership decision-making.
  • Address employee relations matters, including employee complaints, performance documentation support, and internal investigations as required.
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, internal communications, company events, recognition programs, and new hire integration activities.


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of benefits administration, employee relations, recruiting, and HR compliance.
  • Experience operating independently in a hands-on HR role with limited administrative support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
