Job description

What You'll Do

  • Manage accounting responsibilities for a portfolio of CAS clients
  • Perform and oversee month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements
  • Maintain accurate general ledgers and investigate unusual account activity
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist clients with improving accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls
  • Identify accounting issues and work with senior team members to develop appropriate solutions
  • Prepare management reporting and help translate financial results into useful information for clients
  • Work closely with our Controller and CFO advisory teams on more complex client needs
  • Communicate directly with clients and develop trusted professional relationships
  • Assist with accounting system implementations, conversions, cleanups, and process improvements
  • Help train and review the work of junior accounting team members as you progress
  • Collaborate with Wiley's tax and advisory professionals to provide clients with coordinated financial support


What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-basis accounting
  • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
  • Ability to understand the relationship between the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of ownership and accountability

Highly Preferred:

  • Public accounting, outsourced accounting, CAS, or multi-entity accounting experience
  • Experience working with ERP or mid-market accounting systems
  • Experience with accounting system implementations or conversions
  • Experience improving month-end close processes or accounting workflows
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior accountants
  • CPA license, CPA candidate, or interest in pursuing professional credentials


ERP & Technology Experience Is a Plus

We're especially interested in accountants who have worked beyond basic small-business bookkeeping platforms.


Experience with ERP systems, accounting technology, integrations, reporting tools, or system implementations is a significant plus. You don't need to be an ERP implementation consultant, but we value people who understand how accounting systems, processes, and data work together.
