Job description

DESCRIPTION: Monitor signs and symptoms of illness of those coming into Gateway Community Health Center. Promote preservation of wellness in all clinics.

SUPERVISION: Directly supervised by Clinic Manager.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged standing.  May require moving up to 25 pounds. Requires regular use of office equipment such as computers, telephone, copiers, scanners, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer screening questionnaire(s) to patients based on existing policy or protocol.
  • Administers temperature screening of all individuals entering the clinic.
  • Ensures all individuals entering the building are wearing a face covering.
  • Facilitates appropriate social distancing during screening process.
  • Assist visitors with delivery notifications
  • Calls the Clinic Manager with screening abnormalities.
  • Monitor assigned screening station at all times during scheduled shifts.
  • Monitors all patients and visitors to ensure mask are worn.
  • Attends and participates in staff development trainings.
  • Assist in the training of other employees as needed.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of departmental issues.
  • Keeps working area clean and organized.
  • Utilize good judgment to respond in a calm and efficient manner in all situations.
  • Greet and acknowledge all patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner and provide the quick, responsive customer service and information necessary to result in a meaningful visit.
  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations and the mission and vision of the Center.
  • Responds quickly to patient and visitor’s requests.
  • Knowledgeable of Centers services and is adept at providing the Centers address, directions to/from the Center, and other relevant information about the Center to patients/visitors. 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Alert Maintenance Staff of any spills, hazards, or shortages of supplies in the restrooms.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the lobbies and surrounding areas.
  • Assist patients in calling for transportation. (i.e. el metro, taxi, adult day care, and/or family members)
  • Ensures availability of wheelchair services to incoming and outgoing patients and visitors and escorts or transports patients who need help to their destination within the facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduate from an accredited high school or GED graduate.
    • Must follow all infection control procedures including utilizing/wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • One year of healthcare experience is preferred.
    • Work flexible hours including the weekend is required.
    • Must have the ability to travel between all clinic locations.
    • Valid Texas driver’s license with minimum liability insurance is required.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
