Overview
As a General Laborer, you will support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. No experience required - we'll train the right person who has a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
Job Title: General Laborer - OSP Broadband Construction
Location: Springfield, MO (and surrounding areas)
Reports To: Crew Foreman / Field Supervisor
Position Type: Full-time
Pay range: $19-$23/hr (+$1 for CDL A)
Role Summary
As a General Laborer in the Outside Plant (OSP) broadband sector, you will play a critical role in the construction, maintenance, and installation of telecommunications infrastructure. With 3 years of construction experience, you will assist in both aerial and underground fiber optic projects, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with our company's core values: transparency, accountability, and communication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Construction Support: Assist in the excavation, trenching, and installation of fiber optic cables, including handling strand, fiber, coax, and copper cables.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain construction equipment such as mini excavators, trenchers, hydro-vacs, and hand tools.
• Site Preparation and Restoration: Prepare and restore job sites, including digging trenches, setting up traffic control, and ensuring all materials and equipment are properly handled.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and company safety standards, participate in safety briefings, and report any hazards or incidents promptly.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work activities, including daily logs, equipment inspections, and material usage.
Non-Essential Duties
• Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge in OSP broadband construction.
• Team Collaboration: Assist in cross-functional tasks as needed, supporting various divisions and job sites.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
