Total Highspeed is a locally owned and operated company providing internet service for over 20 years. Our knowledge of the current wireless and fiber technology allows us to provide superior quality, high speed internet where DSL and cable are not accessible. Currently we provide service to over 150 rural communities in Missouri and Arkansas, making us one of the largest internet providers in the state of Missouri. We are growing! Our Fiber Optic Network is expanding and allowing rural homes the same service big cities can provide. It is an exciting time for us, and we would like you to be a part of our team!

The position requires a good working knowledge of fiber optic networks and their related equipment to provide maximum operating efficiency.

Primary Role and Responsibilities for the I&R Technician

  • Installation, maintenance, and repairing of fiber optic systems for residential and commercial customers
  • Responsible for building and maintaining splice closures when applicable
  • Operates and maintains vehicle, tools, fusion splicer, test equipment and other company owned equipment in accordance with system guidelines and procedures
  • Place aerial or buried fiber optic drops and install interior and exterior wiring
  • Complete pre-install work order and post-install service verification and customer education to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Observe all safety rules and OSHA regulations
  • Work at heights by using/setting up various types of ladders
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Use internal systems for work order notation and time keeping
  • Keep customer appointments

Secondary Role and Responsibilities for the I&R Technician

  • RF Install and service call when needed
  • Assisting mainline technicians dependent on work load

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Experience with handling fiber optic cable and splice enclosures
  • Residential and commercial installation experience
  • Ability to work long hours standing /sitting in a single position
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret prints, and splice matrix
  • Valid class E driver's license and good driving record
  • High School Diploma or GED
