Job Summary
Strategic Management Solutions, LLC is seeking a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to support our client work with Los Alamos National Lab (LANL). The technical project manager (TPM) manages and ensures the timely completion of discrete technical or operational projects; establishes technical requirements for the project; defines project deliverables, budgets, and schedules; and oversees the project team in the planning, tracking, and execution of the project from initiation to completion. Projects are a set of related activities associated with Line-Item Projects Project Controls program and candidate must have the ability to produce specific products or provide services to meet customer’s requirements. TPMs develop or maintain processes to meet specific programmatic needs and produce the work products defined by the hiring manager.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for cost analysis/control and planning and scheduling activities for projects or programs with significant non-routine requirements or for discipline/projects/programs/proposal cost and planning activities which require a high degree of technical skilled experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to cost and schedule guidance to projects and programs.
  • Ensures work is completed as scheduled. Identification of cost trends for management attention.
  • Identification of cost trends for management attention. The customer may be an external body, such as a federal agency, or may be an internal organization within the Laboratory.
  • Support project scheduling using Primavera P6, including data quality checks, integration tasks, and schedule analysis.
  • Support project cost management using Cobra and EVMS processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across technical and business domains to align solutions with project objectives.
Required Skills/ Abilities
  • Proficient in P6
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Demonstrated initiative and independence—able to take a concept from idea to delivered product without heavy direction.
  • Strong communication skills across both technical and business contexts.
  • Experience in project controls within DOE/NNSA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous-improvement mindset

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
