Position Description
Summary
The IT Specialist supports NW Construction's technology systems and users by providing technical support, maintaining business systems, and assisting with technology initiatives across the organization. This role helps ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the technology used to support employees in the office, field, and remote locations.
The position provides exposure to a broad range of information technology disciplines including end-user support, Microsoft 365, systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical aptitude, enjoys solving problems, and is motivated to continuously learn and develop new skills.
About NW Construction
NW Construction is a Heavy Civil Construction Contractor based in Bozeman, Montana. NWC specializes in heavy civil construction, taking on projects both large and small. Our work encompasses many areas of the construction industry, including but not limited to: Dams, Hydroelectric, RCC, Concrete, Large and Small Diameter Piping, Sheet Piling, Site Work, Utilities, Slurry Walls, Demolition, Marine, Environmental Work, Drill and Shoot and Aggregate Processing. Project sites are generally located in Montana and the western United States.

Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements
    • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • One (1) to three (3) years of professional experience supporting technology systems, business applications, or end users in a business environment.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience supporting technology in a business environment.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and services.
    • Familiarity with Windows desktop and server operating systems.
    • Basic understanding of networking concepts and business technology systems.
    • Exposure to systems administration, infrastructure, cybersecurity, virtualization, or backup technologies.
    • Experience documenting technical procedures, solutions, and support activities.
    • Experience working with third-party technology vendors and service providers.
    • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or similar certifications.

Physical Requirements
    • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
    • Ability to operate computers, mobile devices, and related technology equipment.
    • Ability to lift, carry, and move technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, reach, or work in confined spaces while installing or supporting technology equipment.
    • Ability to travel occasionally to project sites to support technology needs.
    • Ability to safely navigate office environments and active construction sites.
