Job description

Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) supporting the AFLCMC/HNJ Communications and Networks Directorate Special Programs Division, located at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA. The division focuses on rapid prototyping, secure Kill Chain capabilities integration, and special access program mission execution. In this role, you will lead Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) documentation efforts and provide Systems Security Engineering (SSE) expertise across highly classified environments, ensuring cybersecurity protections are embedded into system architectures from concept through sustainment.

Responsibilities

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (AAS) role, you will provide expert‑level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision‑making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Lead the coordination of A&A documentation.
  • Assist with design, development, implementation, and integration of systems IA architecture.
  • Serve as PMO expert of IA security protections and requirements.
  • Assist in development of security Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) mitigations through timely assessment of POA&M corrective actions.
  • Conduct technical and nontechnical reviews and observe audits as necessary to support development and test efforts.
Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain an Active Top Secret / SCI clearance, with eligibility for SAP/SAR access

Education: Masters Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline

Years of Experience: 10+ years of relevant IA/cyber/security engineering experience

Certifications: Must meet DoDD 8140 IAT Level II or higher and hold CISSP

  • Demonstrated experience with RMF, IA control families, A&A documentation, and cyber architecture development
  • Experience supporting Special Access Programs (SAP/SAR) and highly classified environments
Technical Skills
  • Experience in security systems engineering involving hardware and software operating system and application solutions in both a stand‑alone and in LAN/WAN configurations as well as Platform IT
  • Experience with security features and/or vulnerability of various operating systems as defined by the US Air Force, NSA, NIST, DISA (STIGs), and US CYBERCOM
  • Experience with IA vulnerability testing and related network and system test tools; e.g., Retina, NMap, Nessus, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP)
  • Experience implementing DoD and Federal IA Assessment & Authorization (A&A) Processes, IA controls and developing and maintaining associated A&A documentation IAW Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Experience with network and system security administration, including operating system security configuration and account management best practices for UNIX (HP-UX & Solaris), MS Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and CISCO systems
  • Experience working U.S. Government contract proposals as an Information Assurance/Security Engineering Subject Matter Expert
  • Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Office products, Windows client OS’s and security, Network protocols and topologies, Routers, Firewalls, Gateways, and Unix-based operating systems
Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong communication skills when advising leadership, PMOs, and engineering teams on cyber risk
  • Ability to lead cybersecurity discussions and defend IA engineering positions during technical reviews
  • Confidence working in high-security environments with multi-agency stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple cyber engineering efforts while tracking POA&M actions and authorization timelines

Travel: Occasional CONUS travel based on mission and inspection timelines

Work Environment: Primarily onsite in a secure facility with limited telework based on mission approval
