What this job involves:
This position supports the Chief Engineer in maintaining and optimizing all building systems and operations at a JLL-managed facility. You'll play a key role in ensuring safety compliance, managing preventative and corrective maintenance programs, and leading hands-on technical work across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building envelope systems. This role requires both independent problem-solving abilities and collaborative teamwork to maintain optimal building performance and client satisfaction.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
  • Assisting the Chief Engineer with reinforcing safety and environmental policies, identifying hazards and risks, and implementing methods to eliminate them
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility building envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed systems and equipment
  • Monitoring Building Management Systems (BMS), responding to alarms, and diagnosing issues to resolution
  • Diagnosing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC equipment including refrigeration/air conditioning compressors, boilers, chillers, pumps, CRACs, and fans
  • Diagnosing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining plumbing components such as restroom fixtures, flush valves, water fountains, sinks, drains, water heaters, and piping
  • Diagnosing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical components including lamp and ballast replacement, fixtures, motors, and basic wiring
  • Conducting assigned facility rounds proactively and reporting on conditions affecting building appearance, client occupancy, and operations
  • Ordering materials to support maintenance of plumbing, electrical, HVAC/controls, and toxic monitoring systems
  • Leading knowledge-sharing sessions with team members on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety, and tool use

Desired experience and technical skills
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of carpentry, HVAC/controls, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Ability to analyze system operations, determine causes of problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent customer service abilities
  • Ability to work independently, safely, and make sound decisions in the field
  • Physical ability to frequently walk up and down stairs, climb ladders up to 40 feet, and lift 60 lbs. repeatedly
  • Ability to create SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs to ensure safe and efficient work completion
  • Willingness and ability to support after-hours building activities including shutdown operations
  • Participation as a member of the on-site emergency response team

Preferred:
  • Experience operating chillers and boilers
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to substitute for Operating Engineers' shifts when needed
