Field Systems Engineer

Position Overview

The Field Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, specification, quoting, and installation of a variety of material handling equipment (MHE) within key strategic accounts. This role will specialize in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), ensuring seamless integration into customer environments. The engineer will collaborate closely with sales, operations, and technical teams to provide expert guidance on MHE solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • AMR Quoting and Specification: Develop and refine AMR solutions by assessing customer needs, creating detailed quotes, and ensuring accurate system specifications.
  • Installation Support: Assist in the deployment and commissioning of AMR systems, conveyors, lift-assist equipment, and other material handling solutions. Work on-site as needed to ensure successful integration.
  • System Design and Integration: Work with customers to design material handling solutions that optimize warehouse and manufacturing workflows, ensuring compatibility with existing operations.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze current operations and recommend MHE solutions that enhance throughput, reduce labor costs, and improve safety.
  • Technical Consultation: Provide expert technical support on MHE selection, layout planning, and automation strategy to internal teams and external customers.
  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with MHE manufacturers and technology providers to source equipment, negotiate pricing, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Project Management: Manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations to ensure MHE solutions are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all MHE installations comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor system performance and provide data-driven recommendations for ongoing improvements. Present findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of MHE, with a specialization in AMR technology and automated solutions.
  • Proficiency in system design, equipment selection, and integration of AMRs into warehouse and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with quoting, technical documentation, and cost analysis for MHE projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze operational inefficiencies.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to evolving customer requirements.
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Frequent travel required

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in MHE system design, automation, or a related field, with a strong focus on AMRs and automated solutions.
  • Experience in project management and vendor coordination within the material handling industry.
  • Relevant certifications in automation technology, robotics, or project management (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
