Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Waste Treatment Systems Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN.

Position Summary
The Waste Treatment Systems Engineer will provide technical and management support for Navarro's waste contract at Y-12. This position will support engineering activities associated with waste treatment operations, equipment performance, process reliability, and technical problem resolution in a chemical or nuclear industry environment. The engineer will work with project, operations, maintenance, and client personnel to help ensure treatment processes and supporting systems are managed safely, effectively with standard code and contract requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for waste treatment operations and related technical activities at Y-12.
  • Support the maintenance, installation, repair, and performance evaluation of equipment used in treatment processes.
  • Assist with managing treatment processes in a chemical or nuclear industry environment, including coordination with operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Evaluate technical issues, develop practical recommendations, and support implementation of corrective actions related to equipment, systems, and process performance.
  • Provide technical and management support to project leadership, including coordination of engineering priorities, field support needs, and contract deliverables.
  • Prepare, review, and support technical documentation, engineering evaluations, work planning inputs, and process-related reports as needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by supporting work activities that align with quality, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, operations, maintenance, project management, and client representatives.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience providing technical and management support in a chemical or nuclear industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to support engineered systems, equipment-related technical issues, and treatment process activities in a regulated operating environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, project management, and client personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and support technical documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment and managing treatment processes in a chemical or nuclear industry.
  • Graduation from an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Experience supporting waste treatment, waste management, nuclear facility operations, chemical processing, or related industrial systems.

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, ship is required.
