Position Purpose:

Provide a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children while that are in the Early

Childhood environment (classroom, outdoor play areas, and field trips). Promote the social,

emotional, physical, and cogitative development of enrolled children. Encourage parent involvement

in all aspects of the program. Develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on

progress and facilitate transition into pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs. Partner with

Content Specialists and Community resources to ensure all needs and/or concerns for

child/families enrolled are being addressed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensuring that all ratios are maintained appropriately, in conjunction with the Center Site Supervisor.

· Overseeing and participating in the closing of the site location, helping with all closing duties, communicating with families, and ensuring the building is ready for use the following day, and locked securely before leaving.

· Maintain confidentiality regarding all information regarding families, co-workers, and self in

accordance with the Early Childhood departmental confidentiality policy.

· Reporting any suspected Child Abuse and Neglect in accordance with State, Tribal and Federal

laws.

· In coordination with Center Site Supervisor, ensure that center facilities are safe for children and comply with laws and regulations.

· Work alongside Center Site Supervisor to manage and support teaching staff and promote their professional development.

· Ensure all weekly and monthly documentation is completed and up to date, under the guidance of Center Site Supervisor.

· Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on childcare standards and procedures.

· Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

· An Associate’s degree in early childhood education is preferred, with Minimum educational requirement of a CDA.

· Experience working with children in a group setting, experience with developmentally appropriate practices and federal learning guidelines, preferably in a mixed age group setting.

· Experience working with state licensing requirements.

· Understanding of federal CCDF compliance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including a closing shift.

· Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and

instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

· Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of

programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.

· Must be able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of departmental rules,

regulations, and policies.

· Outstanding organizational abilities and must be able to prioritize.

· Productive and effective time management, flexibility in responding to a variety of work tasks.

· Proficiency with basic information technology.

· Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time.

· Ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily classroom activities, and

adapt to the individual needs of children.

· Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.

Requirements:

Certifications:

· Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.

· CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 6 months of employment.

Work Requirements:

Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and / or temperature.
