Job description

Shanna and Bryan Glazer JCC Event Center is seeking to fill the position of Prep Cook. This position will be responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment at all times.

Essential Job Functions (but not limited to)

Perform all kitchen duties as assigned

Cleans and sanitizes the working surfaces, tools, utensils and work area

Understands and complies consistently with our standard cooking methods and procedures

Carefully supervises the food temperature and the temperature from cooling to ensure that

the food is kept at proper temperature.

Accepts or rejects food from suppliers, based on their appearance and quality

Label and stock all items so they can be organized and easily accessible

Able to put incoming trucks away in proper spots.

Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems or product shortages to Chef

Follow all prep lists created by chef

Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping Vegetables, cutting meats etc

Able to assist others in the kitchen

Opens and closes kitchen effectively

Position Requirements

A team player with good communication skills

Ability to interact and develop rapport with kitchen staff

Knowledge of proper and safe use of tools and equipment and safe food handling

Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils

Professional appearance and attitude

Must be able to work a flexible schedule

Must be efficient with time

Physical Requirements

Lifting, pushing and pulling in excess of 50 pounds using proper body mechanics and/or available

equipment as physically required for extended periods of time.

Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time

Must be capable of work at heights, sometimes above 10 feet.

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions typical for Florida environment.
