Job description

Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise employees within the GMS Houston Machine Shop. The focus will be the day-to-day activities ensuring the work is performed safely with the highest quality, lowest cost and on time.
Requires daily onsite attendance; this is not a remote-work position.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize and supervise the GMS Houston Machine Shop operations
  • Communicate with the Manufacturing Manager on any NCR's, schedule changes or significant deviations from plan
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, quality, delivery and cost of the department
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Coach direct reports for career growth and excellence
  • Review the schedule and manpower resources to ensure production schedule is met
  • Review and approve the daily/weekly time sheets of direct reports for accuracy
  • Verify policies/procedures are followed to ensure that the product specifications are met
  • Monitor employee attendance and absenteeism and hold employees accountable as necessary
  • Review work instructions, JSEA's and procedures - Includes issuing and implementation
  • Drive improvements in efficiency by equipment maintenance and upgrades as well as process improvements
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of controls, budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing changes
  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques with Process Engineering
  • Assist with new equipment purchases/modifications
  • Participating in project / production meetings as required
  • Work with Engineering on NCR dispositions
  • Ensure visible leadership by engagement with all department personnel with regards to safety, quality, cost and delivery
  • Maintain a good rapport with all levels in the department to ensure open and honest communication
  • Ensure the continued strength of Oceaneering's Culture and Core Values; hold employees accountable for commitments

Qualifications
REQUIRED
  • Minimum 5 years of machining experance and shop router development
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with GD&T and assembly stack tolerancing in order to troubleshoot Non Conformances
  • Minimum 5 years of experience implementing Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of ERP systems

DESIRED
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of machining experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience supervising machining operations
