Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree-granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. Job Summary
Graduate Assistant Coach will support MGA athletic programs while pursuing graduate education. These positions provide applied leadership training for students interested in careers in athletics, coaching, or sports administration.
Responsibilities
  • Assists the Head Coach with coaching, practices, game preparation, strategic planning, and player development.
  • Supports recruiting by identifying prospects and assisting with communication, admissions, and eligibility.
  • Assists with strength and conditioning, program operations, and equipment/facility management.
  • Provides administrative support related to program operations and team activities.
  • Mentors student-athletes and supports their academic success and overall experience.
  • Communicates with coaches, student-athletes, and stakeholders to support program success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Jeanne Clery Act

Required Qualifications
Required Educational Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree required; Acceptance into MGA Master's degree program required
Must be fully admitted to graduate program at Middle Georgia State University with Regular Admission Status as identified by the Graduate School in the initial acceptance letter.
For each semester of an assistantship, a student must provide proof of insurance and register for a minimum of six hours of graduate course work leading to a Masters or Doctoral degree.
A graduate assistant must also maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and may not have received less than a ยฟBยฟ in any previous graduate course prior to an application for an assistantship
Required Experience
Experience as a player or coach at the collegiate or professional level may substitute for education requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.
  • Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles/assigned sport rules & procedures.
  • Knowledge of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Peach Belt Conference rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
