Job Description:

Are you an organized, detail-oriented person who likes working in an interesting and challenging environment, requiring confidentiality and excellent multitasking skills? If so, the Reception and Treatment Center has an opportunity as a Records Officer.
Additional $3/hour facility differential for hours worked.

Duties:
*Prepare paperwork for the process of paroling and discharging inmates to include sex offender registrants, parole and discharge certificates and release statements.
*Prepare inmate transportation orders, transfer orders and coordinate such transfers with other facilities and agencies.
*Track inmate daily count.
*Answer routine correspondence inquiries regarding inmate records and file paperwork in inmate files as needed.
*Update inmate personal, emergency contact and address information.
*Prepare files to be sent to Central Records after discharge.
*Prepare form letters to victims and victim notifications when required.
*Assist with assigned American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation files.
*Act in the absence of the Inmate Records Manager.


Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Experience and/or coursework in office support/clerical functions or records management procedures.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in department policies and procedures regarding inmate records division, including all confidentiality laws. Experience in the processes of discharging inmates, parolees and the registration of sex offenders. Experience conducting research, interpreting State Statutes and preparing statistical reports. Experience answering correspondence, preparing form letters and various records related documents. Experience in the application of Good Time Laws and ACA file maintenance. Experience in Microsoft Office, Corrections Tracking System (CTS), Nebraska Inmate Case Management System (NICaMS) and Nebraska Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS).

Other: Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program.
