General Summary
The Associate Degree Nursing Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable student worker to provide clerical, departmental, and simulation-based learning support. The student will assist with setting up and running simulations in the Medical Center Hospital Simulation (SIM) Hospital and may also serve as a standardized patient to provide realistic clinical scenarios for nursing students. This role offers valuable exposure to healthcare education while fostering teamwork, professionalism, and communication skills.
Specific Position Duties
  • Assist in preparing and organizing simulation spaces, equipment, and supplies.
  • Operate basic simulation technology (monitors, manikins, and audio/visual equipment) under staff supervision.
  • Serve as a standardized patient by portraying patient roles consistently and accurately based on provided case scenarios.
  • Provide verbal or written feedback to students from the perspective of a patient when requested.
  • Support faculty and simulation staff during simulation activities, including role-play, debriefings, and scenario resets.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student performance and departmental information.
  • Perform general clerical tasks such as filing, copying, scanning, and organizing documents.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and route them to the appropriate faculty or staff.
  • Greet and direct students, faculty, and visitors within the Wood's Health and Science Building.
  • Provide general assistance with departmental operations and special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Nursing Department Staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must qualify for Federal Work Study.
  • Availability during daytime hours (flexible schedule).
  • Comfort with role-playing and working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, dependable, and adaptable.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, etc.) preferred.
