Job DescriptionThe Completions Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, execution, and optimization of completion and workover operations for unconventional oil and gas wells. This role works closely with drilling, production, reservoir, geoscience, operations, finance, and service providers to deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-performing wells.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for completion design, execution planning, operational support, performance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong engineering fundamentals, field operations knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
ResponsibilitiesCompletion Design & Execution - Design, support, and optimize completion programs for new wells and existing producing assets.
- Develop detailed operational procedures, engineering designs, and execution plans for completion and workover activities.
- Provide engineering support during completion operations and serve as a technical resource for field personnel.
- Monitor operational execution to ensure compliance with design objectives, safety requirements, and performance targets.
- Support stimulation, wireline, coiled tubing, workover, and well intervention operations.
Planning & Optimization - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support field development planning and production optimization.
- Analyze operational and production data to identify opportunities for performance improvements and cost reductions.
- Benchmark completion performance and implement best practices across assets.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and operational methods that improve well productivity and economic returns.
- Participate in completion design reviews, risk assessments, and operational readiness evaluations.
Commercial & Vendor Management - Assist with the evaluation, selection, and management of service providers and contractors.
- Support tender processes, technical evaluations, contract reviews, and vendor performance assessments.
- Develop and manage detailed cost estimates, Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) forecasts, schedules, and operational budgets.
- Monitor and report operational costs, time performance, and key performance indicators.
Data Analysis & Reporting - Review daily operational reports and validate operational data accuracy.
- Track and analyze completion performance metrics and operational trends.
- Maintain high-quality engineering databases and reporting systems.
- Prepare technical presentations, performance summaries, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.
- Utilize engineering software and data visualization tools to support decision-making and performance optimization.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of experience supporting unconventional horizontal oil and gas completion operations.
- Strong experience with stimulation, wireline, coiled tubing, workover, and well intervention activities.
- Knowledge of well control principles, well barrier management, and operational safety practices.
- Experience developing completion designs, operational procedures, and engineering analyses.
- Proficiency with WellView and well planning/scheduling software preferred.
- Experience with fracture modeling software and production performance analysis preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Spotfire, or similar analytical and visualization platforms preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to field locations as operationally required.
