The Audio-Visual (AV) Supervisor will assist in the supervision of the Audio-Visual (AV) hosts working throughout the amusement park. The position reports directly to the Audio-Visual Manager with efficient operation of the department to provide a positive guest experience.
We are currently looking for a:
Adventureland Park - AV/Sound Supervisor
Roles & Responsibilities:
Supervisory Duties:
  • Supervise the daily operations of the Audio Visual/Sound team and any other assigned departments

  • Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Adventureland's core values

  • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned hosts

  • Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all AV/Sound positions and backfill these positions when needed

  • Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned hosts, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline.

  • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Iowa law

  • Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities

Departmental Duties:
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and professional audio equipment

  • Operate audio and lighting mixers during live performances

  • Prepare and maintain professional video display systems in accordance with large group presentations

  • Maintain and operate surveillance systems, research incidents as necessary

  • Provide support for all aspects of resort operations, including Theme Park, Waterpark, Animal Park, Hotel, Restaurant, and/or Campgrounds

  • Develop rapport with department staff and entertainers

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and executing Phantom Fall Fest and other hosted events at the park locations

  • All other duties assigned by leadership

Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred

  • College degree or technical training in Electrical Engineering, Sound Engineering, Sound Technician, Music Production, Sound Production, Communications Technology, Radio and Television Broadcasting or related discipline

  • 2+ years of previous AV/Sound experience highly required

  • Excellent computer proficiency and mechanical aptitude

  • Knowledge of installation, configuration, and maintenance of AV systems and equipment

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws

  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, open to close

  • Ability to frequently work hours that extend beyond 9 AM to 5 PM during the operating season and event set-up activities

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record

  • Basic knowledge of commercial and/or professional audio systems required

  • Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient ability with soldering techniques is highly desired

  • Must possess some mechanical aptitude and be able to use a variety of hand and power tools

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods of time

  • Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time, while using a computer

  • Ability to walk long distances throughout the park

  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more

  • Ability to work in all non-conventional areas of the property, including in confined spaces or above ground-level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts

  • Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, move objects/tools

  • Ability to see differences between colors and brightness

  • Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away

Working Conditions:
  • This role will be based in both an office setting as well as outdoor Park environment

  • Subject to frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities

  • Frequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions

  • Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, bright light, vibrations, dust, and exposure to various chemicals

  • Subject to working at significant heights greater than 100 feet
