Job description

Solar Project Development Manager (Preconstruction) - $120 000 - $125 000 - NYC, within commutable distance to Astoria, Queens

Do you have the technical solar knowledge to move commercial projects from early concept through Notice to Proceed? Can you coordinate engineers, utilities, permitting authorities and construction partners without losing sight of cost, quality, or deadlines?

The Role

DVM Industries is seeking a Solar Project Development Manager (Preconstruction) to lead the development of commercial solar projects from the initial sales handoff through Notice to Proceed.

You will be the central link between Sales, Engineering, Utilities, Permitting Authorities, Incentive Programs and Construction. Your focus will be ensuring every project is technically viable, financially competitive, fully approved and ready for a smooth transition into construction.

This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex problems, managing several projects at once and bringing structure to a fast-moving development process.

Key Responsibilities

As the Solar Project Development Manager, you will:

  • Support the sales cycle with technical guidance, site layouts, preliminary designs, pricing, and client proposals
  • Prepare project budgets and cost models covering equipment, labor, permitting, interconnection, and development costs
  • Coordinate stamped engineering packages or complete designs directly when appropriately licensed
  • Manage utility interconnection, permitting, and incentive applications through final approval
  • Maintain accurate project records, schedules, milestones, and stakeholder communications
  • Identify and resolve design, utility, permitting, cost, and scheduling risks
  • Manage multiple commercial solar projects while maintaining quality and compliance
  • Deliver complete, accurate, and organized handoffs to the Construction team

The company

DVM Industries provides energy, infrastructure, and facility support services for complex commercial and institutional environments.

We focus on practical, cost-effective solutions supported by strong project controls, safety standards, and responsible asset management. As our renewable energy work continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced professional who can help move high-quality solar projects confidently into construction.

The Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance-based incentives, where applicable
  • Health insurance
  • Paid vacation
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match

The person

You will need:

  • At least three years of solar project development, design, engineering, or pre-construction experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial solar PV design
  • Experience with utility interconnection, permitting, and incentive applications
  • Proficiency in Aurora, HelioScope, AutoCAD, or similar design software
  • Strong Excel-based pricing and financial modeling skills
  • Excellent project management and communication abilities
  • The ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

A PE license, progress toward licensure, NY-Sun experience, and knowledge of NEC and IEEE 1547 standards would be valuable. Experience with Salesforce, Monday.com, or similar platforms is also preferred.

Apply today to join DVM Industries as a Solar Project Development Manager and help turn promising solar opportunities into construction-ready projects.
