The Role and Impact
We are seeking a talented Quantum Error Correction Software Engineer to assist in the design and implementation of future fault tolerant quantum computers. In this role, you will take technical ownership of software development, focusing on enabling efficiency and innovation. Your contributions will directly impact Intel's ability to deliver advanced technologies and empower engineering teams across internal and external domains.
Business group
You'll be joining the Corporate Technology Office (CTO), Intel's global hub for innovation and next-generation technology exploration. The CTO drives research and development initiatives that shape the future of computing, fostering collaboration across engineering disciplines and industry ecosystems. As part of this group, you will contribute to advancing Intel's technical leadership and solving key challenges to enable breakthrough technologies, such as exploring quantum computer systems engineering and architecture. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the architecture in many components of the quantum computing stack, and to join a team building Intel's first quantum computers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement software codes specifically for Intel quantum hardware constraints.
- Research and development of quantum error correction protocols for fully fault tolerant quantum computing systems.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external industry partners to assess technical feasibility, prioritize development, and drive advanced solutions.
- Explore the performance of technology alternatives, collaborating with algorithm and application researchers, software engineers and hardware engineers to explore hardware/software trade-offs in the implementation of quantum error correcting codes.
-Collaborate closely with both quantum computing hardware and software teams
- Provide technical leadership to development teams, driving best practices and ensuring high-quality software delivery.
- Stay engaged with industry trends and advancements, sharing insights and collaborating with technologists across Intel and beyond.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field
- Experience in quantum error correction research and development (1+ years).
- Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks relevant to software tools development (e.g., C++, Python, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver significant results in a multidisciplinary environment.
