McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for the Assistant Coach for Girls Varsity Softball position to begin Monday, February 23.

Position Overview

The Assistant Coach for Girls Varsity Softball supports the Head Coach in planning, teaching, and developing the Grades 9-12 Girls Varsity Softball Program. This position reports directly to the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience coaching softball at the high school, college, or club level. Strong communication skills, the ability to build positive relationships, and a collaborative mindset are essential. A clear understanding of the role athletics plays in an educational setting is highly valued.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Coach in providing positive leadership for the Girls Varsity Softball team.
  • Assist with practice planning, skill development, game preparation, and in-game coaching.
  • Help create a welcoming, inclusive environment that supports student-athlete growth on and off the field.
  • Engage with families and serve as an ambassador for the Softball Program and the School.
  • Participate in program-building efforts, including youth engagement and support of Middle School and Junior Varsity players when appropriate.
