Job Summary
The Assistant Softball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Softball coach in creating and maintaining a successful program for the institution on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
Responsibilities
Duty 1 -
Teaching of skills required for both team and individual player development in coordination with the Head Coach.
Duty 2 -
Assists with on-field coaching.
Duty 3 -
Instruction and supervision of strength and fitness conditioning of individuals and team.
Duty 4 -
Assists in identifying and recruiting academically and athletically talented student athletes.
Duty 5 -
Assists operational aspects of team management, including but not limited to: equipment inventory and field preparation and maintenance.
Duty 6 -
Develops and maintains relationships with students, colleagues, staff, alumni, parents to ensure the success and growth of the program.
Duty 7 -
Serve as manager in Cochran Wellness Center for hours to be specified by Director of Athletics and Wellness.
Duty 8 -
Performs other duties as assigned by Head Softball coach or Athletic Administration.
Duty 9 -
Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Jeanne Clery Act
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Required Experience
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years' experience or service.
Experience as a player or coach at the collegiate or professional level may substitute for education requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.
Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.
Knowledge of sports field maintenance principles.
Knowledge of Softball rules and procedures.
Knowledge of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
Skill in oral and written communication.
