Job description

Warehouse And Delivery Assistant

The purpose of this classification is to assist with delivery and warehouse activities. The person in this classification will load/unload trucks and assist with the delivery of merchandise to customer's home or business.

Essential Functions

  • Places stock on shelves or racks and sets up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
  • Performs general maintenance and grounds keeping duties for warehouse and/or store.
  • Unloads merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks.
  • Ensures safe operations of vehicles by assisting delivery truck drivers with directing trucks into unloading areas.
  • Records deliveries on delivery record and submits to appropriate management.
  • Loads truck in preparation for daily deliveries; assists with delivery, unloading and set-up.
  • Obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
  • Assists with repossessions of goods.
  • Assembles merchandise as required.
  • Performs customer service inspections and repairs as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of store/warehouse interior and grounds and upholds the company's Delivery Standards.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Jr. High School Diploma; six months experience in distribution or warehouse environment, shipping/receiving or delivering merchandise; or any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to assemble, process and tabulate data according to a prescribed plan.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and/or descriptive data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may require the ability to calculate decimals and utilize principles of fractions.

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in dealing with situations involving repetitive or short cycle operations or duties carried out according to set procedures.
