Retail Security Supervisor
LOCATION:
Short Pump Town Center - Richmond, VA
PAY:
Starting at $17.50/hour
POSITION TYPE:
Full-Time
SCHEDULE:
4:00PM - 12:00AM Sunday and Monday off
OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Retail Security Supervisor to lead and support our on-site security team. This role is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors while delivering excellent customer service and strong team leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise, coach, and support Security Officers and Shift Leads
  • Manage performance, including coaching and corrective actions when needed
  • Assist with hiring, training, and ongoing development of staff
  • Ensure proper scheduling, coverage, and accurate timekeeping

Security Operations
  • Oversee daily security operations and ensure compliance with post orders and company policies
  • Conduct site patrols and inspections to maintain safety standards
  • Ensure reports, logs, and documentation are completed accurately and on time
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms; coordinate with local authorities as needed

Safety & Systems Management
  • Monitor and support the use of security systems (CCTV, alarms, fire panels, access control, elevators)
  • Ensure all equipment and company vehicles are maintained and functioning properly
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and enforce safety protocols

Client & Communication
  • Build strong relationships with mall management, tenants, and local police/fire departments
  • Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager regarding team and site performance
  • Provide excellent customer service through professional interactions with all visitors

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Prior security experience with supervisory or leadership responsibilities
  • Knowledge of security operations, procedures, and safety practices
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security licenses/certifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (report writing required)
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations

  • Supervision & Leadership: Oversee daily activities of security officers, ensuring they follow post orders, maintain professionalism, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Incident Management: Respond to and manage emergencies, accidents, and criminal acts, investigating and completing detailed reports (Incident Reports, Daily Activity Reports).
  • Training & Compliance: Ensure officers are trained on life safety systems (fire panels, CCTV), emergency procedures, and company policies, enforcing adherence.
  • Patrol & Monitoring: Conduct regular patrols, monitor surveillance equipment, and check access points (doors, elevators) for safe operation.
  • Reporting & Communication: Communicate new security issues and changes to the Security Supervisor and provide recommendations for improved safety and loss prevention.
  • Customer Service: Uphold strong customer service, greeting visitors and maintaining a friendly, professional presence within the mall environment.
