Security Specialist
Quantico, VA
The Security Specialist reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the MSTP Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a continuous physical presence at the Security Control Desk from 0700 to 1800, Monday through Friday, to support daily security operations.

  • Process Visit Access Requests (VARs) and verify visitor security clearances and event attendee rosters using DISS and/or NBIS.

  • Issue, track, recover, and maintain accountability for all MSTP visitor badges.

  • Create, maintain, and update the MSTP Mundy Hall Access Roster (MHAR) and manage visitor logbooks for all Open Storage Spaces (OSS).

  • Operate the AMAG PMO security control system, including creating, updating, and deleting security profiles, badges, and CAC credentials.

  • Assist personnel with activating and deactivating AMAG accounts for the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Access Control Systems (ACS).

  • Coordinate, direct, and provide escorting support for visitors, and promptly notify the Security Manager, Assistant Security Manager, and Security Team of any visitor without proper clearance.

  • Execute the opening and closing schedule to ensure facility accessibility for daily operations, exercises, training events, wargames, and scheduled activities.

  • Prepare for and support security inspections, PSEs, PSSs, program reviews, and assist visits related to the MSTP Information and Personnel Security Program (IPSP).

  • Maintain an annually updated electronic turnover file to ensure continuity and sustainment of the command's security program.

EDUCATION
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum completion of a DoD or servicespecific security training course (e.g., Personnel Security, Industrial Security, Physical Security, or Access Control Operations).

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum three years of experience administering physical security systems, including AMAG or equivalent Intrusion Detection and Access Control Systems (IDS/ACS), to create, update, and manage badges, credentials, and user profiles.

  • Minimum two years of experience managing facility access programs, maintaining access rosters, tracking visitor badges, and maintaining logbooks for Open Storage Spaces (OSS).

  • Demonstrated understanding of Defense Information System for Security (DISS) module and National Background Investigative Services (NBIS).

CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and SharePoint.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, prioritization, interpersonal skills, and able to instinctively adapt, plan, inform and influence.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus

  • Daily travel in local area during work day (including use of personal vehicle)

  • Be able to work an unstable schedule, to include holidays and weekends.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for up to three weeks at a time (or longer).

  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.

SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • A Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is required.
