Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Assistant Security Manager at Rio Las Vegas will oversee the Security team who will exude confidence through a rare combination of a strong mind and gentle heart. Assistant Security Shift Managers must be extremely knowledgeable in department operating procedures, must be dynamic team leaders and rational in their approach. The Assistant Security Managers will always have a positive energy and will maintain the highest levels of integrity, courage, and service.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Oversees patrols of the property on assigned shift, identifying potential security and/or safety hazards, and reporting same to the Director of Security, to ensure the safety and protection of guests, Team Members, and the entire facility.
  • Regularly provides backup to Security Officers and Security Managers on assigned shifts.
  • Always communicate successfully with Security Team Members, the senior executive staff, as well as with guests and Team Members at all levels, Fire and Health Inspectors, law enforcement personnel, medical personnel, and other outside vendors.
  • Facilitates the daily shift operations of the Security Department.
  • Makes suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, for improvements to policies, procedures, or the facility.
  • Follows company brand standards for guest service.
  • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings and holding meetings as necessary.
  • Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
  • Ability to work all shifts and weekends.
  • Responsible for complying with Title 31 and AML/SARC compliance policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises Security Officers.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree or four to five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of college and experience.
  • Skill in developing, leading, and maintaining guest and Team Member relations.
  • Ability to develop Security Officers and Security Managers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with management and Team Members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to understand questions and instructions from management and senior management.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, analyze, communicate and interpret documents in English.
  • Ability to stay organized and focused on Company and Department goals.
  • Ability to review, correct and write effective reports and memos.
  • Ability to communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from Security Officers, other Team Members senior leadership or guests.
  • Ability to apply common sense reasoning to a variety of situations.
  • Ability to react rationally to high stress situations while maintaining a calm demeanor
  • Full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules, policies and procedures as well as a variety of local and federal laws.
  • Knowledgeable in all Security Manager, Security Officer, Bike Officer, Lost & Found, Control and Report Writing Functions.
  • Ability to effectively use a Radio, Handcuffs, and other Security Equipment as assigned and necessary.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in a variety of programs.

PREFERRED
  • Five years' experience in military, law enforcement, and/or direct security/surveillance experience in a hotel/casino environment and management experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid state Driver's license.
  • Bike certifications and training will be necessary.
  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, gaming, and local regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Requires use of standard office equipment
  • Requires prolonged standing and mobility.
  • Requires bending and reaching. Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering Items
  • Requires the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Ability to understand and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
