CONTEXT: Our client is seeking a Dispatcher / Route Manager to oversee the daily scheduling, routing, and coordination of drivers, equipment, and service personnel supporting event rentals and temporary site services. This role serves as the central communication hub between customers, drivers, sales, yard operations, and management to ensure exceptional customer service and efficient execution of deliveries, pickups, service calls, and rental operations.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has experience coordinating field operations, transportation, logistics, or rental equipment services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers, technicians, and equipment for deliveries, pickups, exchanges, and service calls.
  • Develop and optimize daily routes to maximize efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Utilize dispatching and routing software to schedule, track, and monitor jobs from start to completion.
  • Maintain real-time communication with drivers regarding schedules, route changes, delays, and service issues.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customer scheduling requests, service needs, and operational updates.
  • Coordinate closely with sales, yard, and operations teams to ensure equipment availability and readiness.
  • Monitor job progress and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts, service issues, or last-minute changes.
  • Maintain accurate records of service tickets, work orders, driver logs, timesheets, and customer communications.
  • Track and report key operational metrics including route efficiency, service completion, missed services, and driver performance.
  • Support compliance with company safety standards, DOT regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding and training drivers on routing procedures, customer service expectations, and company processes.
  • Lead regular driver meetings focused on safety, communication, and service excellence.
  • Develop a strong understanding of service territories, customer locations, traffic patterns, and operational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2+ years of dispatching, logistics, transportation, rental equipment, construction services, or field operations experience.
  • Strong routing and scheduling experience with multiple drivers and service locations.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure.
  • Experience with dispatching, routing, ERP, or service management software.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting.
  • Knowledge of equipment rental, temporary site services, portable sanitation, dumpsters, fencing, construction support services, or event rentals preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and problem-solving ability.
