Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – Endoscopy Center
Holly Springs, NC | In-Office

Support exceptional patient care in a fast-paced procedural and specialty care environment.

Raleigh Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) to support our Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Center team. This role provides clinical support to patients undergoing GI procedures and outpatient care under the direction of physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff.

The Certified Medical Assistant plays an important role in delivering high-quality patient care through patient intake, pre-procedure preparation, care coordination, patient education, and procedural support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care and clinical support as delegated by licensed clinical staff.
  • Prepares patients for GI procedures by obtaining and documenting medical history, medications, allergies, vital signs, and procedure-related information.
  • Assists physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff during examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and minor medical procedures.
  • Prepares procedure and recovery areas, equipment, and supplies for daily operations and scheduled procedures.
  • Assists with patient flow, room turnover, stretcher cleaning, and maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment.
  • Obtains and documents patient assessments, interventions, medication information, test results, and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collects biological samples and performs basic clinical and laboratory-related tasks as directed.
  • Reinforces patient education regarding procedure preparation, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
  • Assists with scheduling procedures, coordinating referrals, and obtaining prior authorizations as indicated.
  • Processes prescription refill requests in accordance with provider direction and refill protocols.
  • Responds to non-emergent patient calls and communicates physician-guided clinical information appropriately.
  • Adheres to OSHA safety guidelines, HIPAA requirements, infection prevention standards, and confidentiality policies.
  • Assists clinical staff during emergency situations and initiates appropriate response procedures within scope of role.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CMA or RMA certification from an accredited organization
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum one year of medical office or clinical experience
  • Experience utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred:

  • Previous gastroenterology, endoscopy, ambulatory surgery, or procedural preferred
  • Experience assisting with patient preparation and recovery processes preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to reposition, transfer, and assist patients safely
  • Ability to occasionally support or move up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed
  • Fine motor skills and visual acuity required
