The Hatch Project Delivery Group is seeking an experiencedย Risk Analyst with a strong interest in the Risk Discipline. Reporting to the Principal, Risk, you will support projects globally based out of our Mississauga location. We are looking for a practitioner with 7+ years of experience in process safety, technical risk, and project risk, ideally within EPC/EPCM environments in the oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, or mining sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Develop effective relationships with clients, Engagement Managers, Business Directors, and the engagement team
  • Assist in risk planning for assigned engagements and configure engagements in iPas RM, Hatch's risk management system
  • Facilitate risk workshops and link identified risks to engagement and business unit objectives and/or strategic organizational goals and strategies
  • Plan and facilitate hazard and process safety studies, including HAZOP and HAZID/HAZAN
  • Conduct Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), including consequence modeling (e.g., PHAST) and risk calculation (e.g., Safeti), to support design and safety case decisions
  • Perform LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) and support SIL assessments/SIL determination for safety instrumented systems
  • Support functional safety and design reviews across process, fire protection, and F&G (fire & gas) systems
  • Maintain the engagement risk register in iPas RM and ensure all risks and their characteristics are appropriately and accurately documented; ensure the quality and integrity of risk data
  • Assess the effectiveness of risk management processes across the organization and recommend improvements
  • Participate in project set-up and closure reviews, project gate reviews, project management reviews, quality audits, and risk management independent reviews, recommending actions for improvement
  • Assist with the development of risk management procedures
  • Track metrics to demonstrate a cultural acceptance of risk management throughout the region
  • Contribute to fostering a knowledge-sharing culture by actively participating in risk knowledge networks and collaborative forums
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Applied Science, or Master of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering (or related discipline) from an accredited university; a Master's degree in Safety and Risk Engineering or Process Safety is an asset
  • 7+ years of experience in process safety, technical risk, and/or project risk management, ideally on EPC/EPCM projects
  • Practical, hands-on experience conducting HAZOP and HAZID studies
  • Solid understanding of the risk management process and demonstrated ability to adapt it to client and project needs; understands how risk creates value on projects
  • Experience with QRA tools such as PHAST and/or Safeti, and working knowledge of LOPA and SIL assessment, is a strong asset
Competencies (Knowledge, Skill, Attributes)
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and modern risk management information systems and technologies (i.e., Predict!, iPas RM, etc.)
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills in English. Similar skills in a second language such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Chinese are desirable
  • Ability to understand, adapt, and apply relevant risk management policies, procedures, standards, tools, and technical requirements to the project or Business Unit context
  • Ability to work on the risk management programs of concurrent multiple projects
  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively, be resourceful, and use time as a resource - routine requirement to work to deadlines imposed by clients, which may require completion of unplanned risk management activities in a short time frame
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external clients; establish trust, credibility, and respect
  • Highly skilled in the production of reports and presentations
  • Ability to travel to other Hatch offices or project sites as required
  • Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges
  • Adapts and embraces change

Base salary range: $89,000 - $138,000

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
