Job description

Build Secure Solutions That Protect What Matters Most

At Vanguard, we're committed to doing what's right for our clients-and that includes protecting their data, assets, and trust. As part of the Technology Leadership Program in the Risk & Security Engineering track, you'll design and build secure technology solutions that strengthen Vanguard's systems and reduce risk across the enterprise. Your work will focus on embedding security into applications and infrastructure - ensuring the systems that power Vanguard are resilient, reliable, and secure. Through real-world engineering assignments and collaboration with cross-functional teams, you'll contribute to protecting Vanguard from evolving cyber threats while enabling innovation. Make it count.

Are you a self-starter who enjoys building solutions and solving complex technical challenges? Join a team where innovation is driven by purpose. You'll work at the intersection of engineering and security, partnering with developers, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders to design and implement secure systems and tools. Through technical capstones, hackathons, and hands-on projects, you'll strengthen your technical expertise while building your ability to collaborate, influence, and lead.

The Technology Leadership Program is a two-year rotational development experience designed for graduating students ready to begin their careers in technology. Participants complete three eight-month rotations across Risk & Security Engineering-focused teams, gaining exposure to areas such as secure software development, DevSecOps, identity and access management, and vulnerability remediation - while increasing ownership, responsibility, and leadership capability over time.

In this program, you will:

  • Design, build, and enhance secure applications and systems across Vanguard's technology environment
  • Contribute to implementing security controls and best practices within software, platforms, and infrastructure
  • Assist in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in applications and systems
  • Build tools, automations, or processes that improve security and operational efficiency
  • Partner with engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions
  • Gain exposure to secure software development practices, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity concepts
  • Apply Agile methodologies to support development and security initiatives
  • Take ownership of projects and contribute to delivering high-impact outcomes
  • Collaborate across teams, share insights, and drive solutions in a supportive environment
  • Build a network with program managers, alumni, senior leaders, and peers
  • Meet regularly with your department manager and program manager to receive personalized coaching and mentorship

What it takes:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with a concentration in computer science, computer engineering, IST, IT, CIS, Security, Risk, Cybersecurity or related technical/engineering subject matter required
  • Strong interest in software engineering with a focus on security and system protection
  • Familiarity with programming concepts and a willingness to learn secure coding practices
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, initiative, and ability to take ownership of work
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred
