Position Summary
The Field Service Reliability Engineer is a key member of NECI's Reliability Solutions team, responsible for delivering Reliability Engineering Services to industrial clients throughout the region. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise in vibration analysis, condition monitoring, and reliability engineering to help customers improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
You will be trained and certified in Emerson Reliability Solutions hardware and software, working both independently and collaboratively to solve complex technical challenges and maintain strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical resource for NECI's predictive maintenance, reliability, and wireless technologies - including online vibration monitoring systems, wireless instrumentation, and other solutions as assigned.
  • Perform route-based vibration data collection using the Emerson AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer.
  • Conduct data analysis using Emerson AMS Machinery Health Management software to identify mechanical faults, assess severity, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor, collect, and evaluate rotating equipment health data to assess machinery condition and ensure optimal reliability.
  • Perform dynamic field balancing and shaft laser alignments using Emerson AMS 2140 instrumentation.
  • Develop and deliver detailed asset health reports with maintenance recommendations to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Communicate technical findings effectively through clear, detailed customer reports and presentations.
  • Troubleshoot complex machinery issues to improve customer uptime and reliability.
  • Support and participate in root cause failure analyses (RCFA) for mechanical issues.
  • Build, configure, and optimize machinery databases within the Emerson AMS Machinery Manager platform.
  • Contribute to business development efforts to help grow NECI's Reliability Services business.
  • Conduct Infrared Thermography Inspections on mechanical and electrical systems to identify thermal anomalies and potential failures.
  • Perform Ultrasonic Inspection Surveys to detect steam trap failures, compressed air, and gas leaks.
  • Carry out Motion Amplification Inspections using RDI Technologies systems to visually diagnose machinery vibration issues.
  • Execute Mechanical Repair Services, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans, etc.....
    • Bearing and motor replacements
    • Belt and coupling replacements
    • Sheave-to-sheave laser alignments
    • Rigging and installation support for rotating equipment
  • Perform root cause analysis of mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions or design improvements.
  • Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning of mechanical systems and rotating assets.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to client locations within the territory.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent technical experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in machinery health, reliability engineering, or a related field preferred with a strong desire to grow within the reliability engineering field.
  • Certification or training in vibration analysis (Category I-II) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Emerson Reliability Solutions products and software (e.g., AMS Suite, CSI analyzers) a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (English speaking required).
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple service commitments, and deliver results under minimal supervision.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen (no work visa or sponsorship available).
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Willingness to travel throughout New England and New York as required.

Not Required, but Preferred
  • Certification in Vibration Analysis, Infrared Thermography Inspections, Ultrasonic Inspections or Motion Amplification.
  • Intellectual curiosity and demonstrate proficiency in problem solving.
  • Proven experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.
  • Prior experience in industrial environments such as Life Sciences, Power Generation, Natural Gas, Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, or Commercial HVAC.
  • Strong computer and software proficiency.

Compensation: This position offers a base salary range of $80,000 to $100,000, based on experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for a variable compensation plan.
The posted salary range represents a good faith estimate of the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
