YOUR DAY TO DAY:
We are seeking a Physicist / Engineering Physicist to join our multi-disciplined engineering team.  The selected candidate will be a key contributor to a small, highly skilled team which is providing industry-leading vacuum electron device technology to a global customer base.

This role will coordinate major engineering projects with responsibility for directing the work of engineers and technicians. The incumbent will be a technical Lead in the development of new Klystron-based amplifier and oscillator designs.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Developing and presenting technical requirements, concepts, designs, decisions and results to internal management, team and customers.
  • Coordinating project activity with applicable departments to ensure integrated support.
  • Coordinating work on technical documentation and ensures transfer of documentation to manufacturing or other functions as required.
  • Exercising responsibility for product cost and quality within the design and specification constraints.
  • Ensuring project objectives and schedules are developed and achieved.
  • Appling an expert understanding of the organizationally defined engineering processes used through the lifecycle of the program or project.
  • Providing manufacturing, assembly, and test support for the low-volume production of new and established designs.
  • Supporting the sales and management teams in the identification and elaboration of new opportunities.
  • Leading the generation of engineering products by using appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.
  • Leading the research and analysis of data such as customer design proposal specification and manuals to determine feasibility of design of application.
  • Appling strong understanding of appropriate technology and products to enhance design capabilities.
  • Leading engineering reviews.
  • Directing engineering and technical support personnel as required.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Creative thinking capability
  • The ability to use software simulation tools to model the electrical, RF, and thermomechanical elements of a vacuum electron device, and correlate these models with the real-world performance of your product
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing and test equipment used in the vacuum electronics industry
  • Solid knowledge of engineering design tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to comfortably interact with your production team, engineering colleagues, management, and a diverse customer base
  • Accurate and strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office and popular design software
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering processes
  • Excellent independent judgement and ability to handle complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to track scope growth.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • An advanced university degree in Science or Engineering, ideally with hands-on experience in the field of high voltage, high power vacuum electronics
  • Several years’ related experience in the field of vacuum electronics design & manufacturing
  • Broad expertise or unique knowledge
  • Expertise with simulation tools, ideally ANSYS
  • Experience with computer control of laboratory equipment

 Must be able to meet all CGD requirements.
