Job description

Job Title: Housekeeper

Ministry/Department: The Retreat Center

Reports to: General Manager

Status: Full-time/non-exempt

Supervisory Role: N/A

Objective

Provide housekeeping services which provide the cleanliness of all cabins, guest rooms, hallways and public areas of The Retreat Center, while keeping focus on The Retreat Center LLC. vision of being a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use proper cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces in accordance with OSHA regulation and The Retreat Center procedures
  • Vacuum, sweep, scrub, wax and/or polish floors, using vacuums, brooms, mops and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
  • Make beds and replace bed linens, bath linens and kitchen linens
  • Clean assigned rooms by priority and update room status on daily check list
  • Clean lobbies, rest rooms, corridors and stairways
  • Transport cart with cleaning supplies, amenities and linens to assigned work area and/or guest room securely
  • Restock cart as well as organizing closets and shelving as needed
  • Properly transport and dispose trash and waste
  • Dusting, shower/tub cleaning, toilet cleaning, kitchen cleaning as well as running of dishwasher and putting dishes away
  • Ensure security of any assigned keys and/or guest room keys and turn any/and all lost and found items into the The Retreat Center Coordinator
  • Any additional duties that may be required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday thru Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. During scheduled events and gatherings, work hours and days may vary, to include weekends and after hours. Flexibility is a must.

The church has several big events, ("All-Skates") throughout the year to help further the mission of Eleven22. These events are mandatory for all staff to be in attendance and may vary, depending on the vision cast for the current year.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses industry standard housekeeping products, cleaning solutions and equipment. In addition, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to an outdoor environment on 3,500 acres of South Georgia coastal woodlands, to include intercostal waterways, swamps and dense forests. Encounters with various wildlife (feral hogs, deer, snakes, alligators, spiders, ticks, mosquitos and other insects) are common.

Physical Demands

This role requires a mixture of physical demands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend, kneel or crouch. The employee mustbe able to stand/walk for long periods of time (up to eight hours) and the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift items of up to 15 pounds, bend and stand, load and unload laundry apparatuses. Extreme summer heat as well as cold, wet winters are expected.

Ministerial Exception

The ministerial exception furthers the purposes of the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment by barring legal claims against church bodies by staff members who perform religious functions. All church pastors are subject to the exception, but a formal ministerial credential is not required. While there is no rigid formula to determine other church staff members that qualify, various factors are considered to determine which staff members are subject to the ministerial exception (please see handbook).
