Are you a storyteller at heart with a pulse on breaking news? Fox 13 Seattle is seeking motivated, curious, and collaborative individuals for our Newsroom Internship. This is a hands-on opportunity designed for college students ready to dive into the high-energy world of live news. You won't just be watching from the sidelines; you'll be working directly with award-winning journalists, producers, and digital teams to create impactful content for our broadcast, streaming, and social platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Editorial Support:Assist with daily newsroom operations, including story research, fact-checking, and pitch development.
  • Content Creation:Write, edit, and publish engaging content across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.
  • AI Integration:Gain hands-on experience navigating the intersection of journalism and technology by utilizing AI-driven tools by learning and implementing AI workflows that streamline production and enhance audience engagement on our streaming services and programming.
  • Production Assistance:Support producers with segment preparation, scripting, and the execution of live or recorded programming.
  • Digital & Social Media: Monitor real-time trends, contribute to social media strategy, and help manage digital updates to keep our audience informed 24/7.
  • Field & Studio Exposure:Assist crews and reporters in the field and observe studio production to gain a 360-degree view of how a newsroom functions.
  • Collaborative Execution:Work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Academic Standing:Must be a Junior or Senior with a strong academic record.
  • Major:Journalism, Broadcast Communications, Media, or a related field.
  • Passion for News:A demonstrated interest in broadcast journalism, streaming technology, and digital storytelling.
  • Communication Skills:Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Professionalism:Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure while working in a dead-line-driven environment.
