Job description


Job Purpose

The Relief Operator will be responsible for assisting the production department with operation relief to cover Days Off, Vacations, Weekends, Sick Leave for each position in the department.

Mill Relief operator works under the supervision of the immediate Supervisor.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate multiple functions on the Mill.

• Assist with inspection and maintenance of machinery.

• Back up all Mill positions and areas

• Assist with determining the cause of system problems or malfunctions, take corrective action, and recommend remedial steps to avoid future occurrences through tracking and charting programming errors to drive root cause analysis.

• Gather data to track and chart programming errors to drive root cause analysis.

• Maintain system and program technical documentation and, when applicable and maintain end-user system / program operation manuals.

• Assist crew lead with daily operation, safety, and maintenance checklist.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Competencies

• Education:

o A High School diploma or equivalent preferred

• Years of Experience:

o Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Pipe Manufacturing Mill

o Minimum of 3 year in OCTG practices

• Job Knowledge:

o Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and Overhead Crane operation.

• Personal Competencies:

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

o Excellent computer skills

• Safety:

o Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

• Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.

• The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.

• The ability to respond quickly to sounds.

• The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.

• The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.

• The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.

• The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.

• Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.

• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
