What is an assistant realtor?

Assistant Realtors are professionals who support licensed real estate agents or brokers with various tasks involved in buying, selling, or leasing properties. Their responsibilities may include administrative duties, scheduling appointments, preparing documents, conducting research, and assisting with marketing efforts. While they do not typically perform direct sales activities unless licensed, they play a crucial role in ensuring smooth real estate transactions and helping agents manage their workload efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an assistant realtor?

To thrive as an Assistant Realtor, you need a solid understanding of real estate processes, strong organizational skills, and often a real estate license or coursework in real estate. Familiarity with Multiple Listing Service (MLS) platforms, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and office productivity tools is typical. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities help you effectively support agents and clients throughout transactions. These skills ensure smooth operations, client satisfaction, and compliance with legal and industry standards in a competitive real estate market.

Job description

Recognized as the No. 1 site trusted by real estate professionals, Realtor.com® has been at the forefront of online real estate for over 25 years, connecting buyers, sellers, and renters with trusted insights and expert guidance to find their perfect home. Through its robust suite of tools, Realtor.com® not only makes a significant impact on the real estate industry at large, but for consumers, navigating the biggest purchase they will make in their life, by providing a user experience that is easy to use, easy to understand, and most of all, easy to make decisions.

Join us on our mission to empower more people to find their way home by breaking barriers to entry, making the right connections, and building confidence through expert guidance.

We are seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to join our CI/CD Platform team within our growing infrastructure organization. This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape the shared delivery and platform capabilities that engineers across the company rely on every day. You will be a key technical contributor responsible for scaling CI/CD workflows, strengthening multi-cluster Kubernetes operations, and improving the developer experience through secure, resilient, self-service platform tooling.

You will help drive critical platform initiatives across GitOps delivery, AWS EKS operations, container orchestration, service reliability, and infrastructure security. This role requires a RealOwnership mindset as you build and evolve the paved paths that allow product engineering teams to ship safely, consistently, and efficiently. You will play a pivotal role in treating the delivery platform as a product and helping scale it to support engineers across the company.

We believe in leveraging the best tools to solve problems faster. You will be expected to utilize AI coding assistants and LLMs proficiently to accelerate development velocity, generate boilerplate, and troubleshoot complex debugging scenarios. This role requires the critical judgment to verify AI-generated outputs for security, performance, and accuracy, allowing you to focus on high-impact architectural challenges.

What you’ll do:

Platform Architecture & Delivery

  • Design, implement, and scale a self-service CI/CD platform that supports secure, reliable, and repeatable software delivery across engineering.

  • Standardize and evolve enterprise CI/CD workflows and multi-cluster GitOps delivery patterns using tools such as CircleCI and ArgoCD.

  • Build reusable pipeline templates, automation, and internal tooling that abstract infrastructure complexity for product developers and improve developer experience.

Cloud Infrastructure & Kubernetes

  • Build and manage production-grade AWS EKS infrastructure across resilient multi-region and multi-cluster environments.

  • Optimize cluster efficiency, workload scheduling, and autoscaling using tools and patterns such as Karpenter.

  • Support secure, healthy, and highly available container platforms used by engineering teams across the organization.

Service Mesh, Security & Reliability

  • Architect and support service mesh patterns that regulate traffic, enforce secure service-to-service communication, and enable safe rollout strategies such as canary deployments and circuit breaking.

  • Implement strong Kubernetes security controls, including IAM Roles for Service Accounts, Network Policies, and policy-driven validation approaches.

  • Build with resilience, observability, performance, and cost-efficiency as core principles across all platform initiatives.

Engineering Partnership & Technical Leadership

  • Partner closely with engineering teams to provide platform guidance, troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues, and improve delivery workflows.

  • Mentor DevOps engineers, contribute to architectural reviews, and maintain an active hands-on role in infrastructure as code and system automation.

What you’ll bring:

Experience & Expertise

  • 8+ years in cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, SRE, or DevOps platform roles.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience designing, provisioning, and troubleshooting AWS infrastructure at scale.

  • 3+ years of production experience administering Amazon EKS and containerized workloads in complex environments.

  • Experience building or operating CI/CD and GitOps workflows in production, ideally with tools such as CircleCI and ArgoCD.

  • Experience supporting highly available distributed systems with strong operational and reliability practices.

Technical Skills

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS services such as EKS, EC2, VPC, Route53, S3, and IAM; Kubernetes; Helm; and multi-cluster platform operations.

  • CI/CD & GitOps: CircleCI, ArgoCD, and modern delivery automation patterns.

  • Security & Reliability: Network Policies, IRSA, traffic management, observability, and secure platform design.

  • IaC & Automation: Terraform and other infrastructure automation tooling used to build paved-path platform capabilities.

Professional Qualities

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Collaborative approach working across engineering, product, and business teams.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to solve complex problems within established practices and policies.

  • Data-driven decision making with a customer-centric approach and empathy for developer experience.
