Job description

QA/QC Coordinator (Mechanical)Reporting to the Quality Manager, the QC/QA Coordinator will work directly with the execution team and supervision to ensure that work completed by Bird Construction meets all company and client specifications.
This position is based out of the Bird Fabrication Shop in Nisku, AB.What You Will Be Working On
  • Ensuring codes and client specification requirements are implemented and completed in the shop.

  • Read and Interpret engineer's drawings such as P&ID's, and isometric drawings

  • NDE requests and documentation review of 3rd party records including NDE, MTR's etc.

  • Create and maintain mechanical inspection records and reports including logs, test packages, and turnover documentation

  • Responsible for visual Inspections of welds, dimensional verification, weld mapping and Red Line Drawings.

  • Complete welder evaluation (job test) and Welder declaration.

  • Identify pertinent welding procedures (pressure and structural) through review of project requirements.

  • Creation of Pressure Test Packages and witnessing the testing

  • Responsible for Material Traceability including recording and verifying welds and heat numbers.

  • Create and ensure compliance to ITPs including all NDE requirements

  • Coordinate and assist in assembling turnover documentation.

  • Manage subcontractors, NDE, Coating, PWHT

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • CWB Level II or CWB Level I Certified Welding Inspector

  • Shop experience is an asset

  • Competent knowledge of NDE processes as well as ASME and CSA Codes

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them

  • Proficient with computer programs, including Bluebeam and Microsoft Office

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Related experience in Industrial Mechanical Construction and Quality Control

  • Maintain positive relationships with the other members of the project team.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
