    Job description

    Development Program Manager (Q-Systems: Security)

QTS Data Centers is a global digital infrastructure leader and a portfolio company of Blackstone, dedicated to designing, building, and operating world‑class data centers that empower customers’ strategic growth.

    Who You Are

The role is primarily responsible for leading and managing the design, pre‑construction, and construction activities of Q‑Systems (with a focus on security) across our portfolio. You will coordinate daily with Facilities, Contractors, Designers, Engineers, Commissioning Agents, Vendors, and Data Center Operations staff and communicate both verbally and in writing at a senior level.

    Impact You Will Have

Your work ensures that critical facility operation systems—corporate and facility networks, wireless access points, BMS/EPMS control systems, and security technology—are designed and implemented according to basis‑of‑design documents, supporting project schedules and tenant lease requirements.

    Responsibilities
    • Provide program‑level support for network infrastructure deployments across the portfolio.
    • Coordinate with QTS network infrastructure and technology teams to ensure infrastructure meets facility needs.
    • Manage port schedule creation for development projects.
    • Review project design for compliance with QTS system standards and basis‑of‑design documents.
    • Create and communicate status updates for executive reviews, presenting information that supports efficient decision making.
    • Implement and manage multi‑phased site development plans to achieve time, budget, and quality standards.
    • Continuously update the campus master plan to provide predictable statistics in a dynamic environment.
    • Write scopes of work for design, construction, and commissioning services; participate in procurement and cost estimating.
    • Evaluate and level pricing proposals for design, construction, and commissioning services.
    • Establish project schedules and manage teams for on‑time completion.
    • Develop deployment plans, review, and communicate them with QTS staff involved.
    • Maintain relationships as a liaison with key QTS stakeholders.
    • Represent QTS Q‑Systems interests in OAC and low‑voltage meetings.
    • Review implementations for compliance with approved design documents and QTS standards.
    • Build relationships that strengthen QTS’s leadership in data‑center real estate.
    • Collaborate with internal development teams to enhance project management processes and protocols.
    • Develop relationships with QTS Facility Operations Technology teams to understand needs and deliver support technologies.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Eight or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices, including Lump Sum, Construction Management at Risk, and Design‑Build delivery methods from concept through closeout.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite—especially PowerPoint for executive communications and Excel for program budgets.
    • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • MBA, Master’s in Engineering, Management, or related field.
    • Experience delivering mission‑critical data‑center facilities.
    • Extensive experience managing MEP trades.
    Benefits
    • Competitive benefits package: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
    • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
    • Flexible spending and HSA accounts.
    • Paid holidays, paid time off, and paid volunteer days.
    • Employee assistance program and tuition assistance.
    • Parental leave, military leave assistance, and QTS scholarship for dependents.
    • Wellness program.
    • Bonus eligibility and potential equity.
