Job description

Director, Development (Data Center Construction)

The Director, Development (Data Center Construction) is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of new client builds and implementations for QTS data centers. The role serves as the primary point of contact across the Sales, Operations, Property Development, and customer teams, ensuring projects meet client expectations and QTS standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage customer deployment project delivery for each sold deal across all QTS locations.
  • Coordinate with the Property Development team and specialty consultants to support client design needs, pricing, approvals, and implementation of deployment scopes.
  • Align client objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross‑group collaboration to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Drive effective client relationship management and efficient cost control.
  • Act as the single contact for Federal sales support on potential secured deals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or professional licenses in Construction Management, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Ten or more years of progressive responsibility in Mission Critical Facilities development.
  • Five or more years of data center project construction experience with large‑scale data centers or DC lease providers.
  • Be able to travel as needed for the business.
Key Skills
  • Experience managing multiple large, multi‑faceted projects.
  • Knowledge of Construction Health & Safety.
  • Experience with Customer Deployment Technologies and Equipment; RCDD certification a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage deadlines and support staff.
  • Influence cross‑discipline teams and adapt to changing situations in a high‑growth environment.
