Job description

The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) has an opening for a current evening law school student interested in working as a Legal Assistant within its Executive Office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant case and statutory law
  • Assist with preparing presentations
  • Identify news stories related to trends in narcotics prosecution and treatment
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling and setting up meetings, answering calls, scanning, photocopying and other duties as required
  • Assist with preparation of reports and public testimony (e.g. research, writing and graphic design)
  • Assist with development of prevention campaigns and public service announcements
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualification Requirements:
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, chart creation, filtering)
  • Some familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, DropBox and other presentation software preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to working two years
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position

Educational Requirements:
Current evening law students with bachelor's degree required, with some legal office work experience preferred.
Special Note: Hours for this position will be from 8:00am to 4:00pm with flexibility.
