Job description

Overview

This is a full-time, permanent position with Cajun Industries. While the position is based within Cajun's Infrastructure Business Unit, the successful candidate will initially be assigned to a project in Mississippi, working onsite to support project execution. Upon completion of this assignment, the employee will have the opportunity to transition to future projects within the Infrastructure Business Unit based on business needs.

The Assistant Project Manager assists with the planning, directing, and coordinating of activities for designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Assists in reviewing project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project. Will be responsible for contract administration, billing, submittal processing, bid preparation, and filing, among other duties, as the project may require. Extensive experience in Word Processing, using Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, and Database software is essential for this position. Supervisory experience is preferred. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain the construction schedule
  • Document daily activities and identifying/solving on-site construction issues
  • Prepare and supervise completion of project closeout
  • Assist other craft workers as needed

Qualifications

Physical:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
  • Move periodically across office settings, client venues, and active project or site locations.
  • Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.
  • Lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Mental:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Direct, collaborate with, and communicate with executives, clients, and project teams. 
  • Interpret and apply company policies, safety protocols, and written instructions. 
  • Perform mathematical calculations, analyze business data, and review project estimates.
  • Maintain accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail while managing competing priorities in an active office environment with frequent interruptions. 
  • Process, retain, and manage complex project details, contractual requirements, and client data.
