WSP is seeking a Senior Environmental Assessment Practitioner, Project Manager to join our Atlantic Environmental Assessment and Permitting team in St. John's, NL or Dartmouth, NS.

As a Senior EIA Practitioner within WSPs Environmental Assessment and Permitting team, you will work with a range of technical environmental specialists and design teams across multiple sectors to manage environmental inputs to project designs and assessments. The role would suit an enthusiastic individual looking to influence, manage and deliver environmental elements of projects, within a wide range of sectors including transportation, energy, industrial and mining. You will have responsibility for managing projects including tasks relating to bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management. Your Impact

  • Provide expert-level guidance and direction on Environmental Impact Assessments for multi-disciplinary projects across the energy and infrastructure sectors.

  • Develop regulatory roadmaps, environmental permit plans, and monitoring programs that ensure compliance and sustainability.

  • Provide technical expertise on a variety of permitting, regulatory and environmental impact assessment tasks to clients, project managers and colleagues.

  • Work on multiple projects, to support execution of scope/budget/schedule to meet client's expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

  • Managing projects, including our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety.

  • Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities to provide support in areas such as resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.

  • Undertaking activities to secure new work, including preparing proposals, contributing to strategic-bid preparation, and participating in business development opportunities. 

  • Supporting the development of innovative techniques to shape the way we do our business whether through Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA etc.

  • Support engagement activities with Indigenous groups, communities and stakeholders as part of the project design and permitting process.

  • Consult with regulators and clients, fostering strong relationships and innovative engagement programs with Indigenous communities, the general public, and stakeholders.

  • Execute activities such as permit application scoping and information requirements, technical writing, data and regulatory research and review, collection and integration of input from subject matter experts, environmental management plans, and development of recommendations for clients.

  • Promoting an inclusive workplace, demonstrating an understanding of Health and Safety whilst living the values of our health, safety, and wellbeing culture.

  • Undertaking actions that contribute towards the success of the WSP business strategy, whilst being self-motivated towards goals relevant to the role, team, and your projects.


The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental studies, planning, science, or engineering.

  • 15+ years of experience, including prior experience with federal and provincial environmental impact assessments.

  •  Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams, (e.g., development of work plans, budgets, schedules, etc.) in a client-facing role.

  • Understanding of consulting processes and tools with strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

  • Expertise with Federal, Provincial and Territorial regulations and guidelines (Atlantic and IAAC).

  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $93,700 - $124,200

MB & ON: $85,500 - $117,800

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $84,700 - $112,400
