Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Civil Railway Designer to join our Rail Transportation Group in one of our offices in Richmond Hill, Burlington, or Cambridge ON. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Technologist or Engineer-In-Training to work on dynamic rail projects in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare civil engineering design and drawings as part of the rail infrastructure team
  • Coordination with project managers, engineers, other discipline designers and drafters within the team
  • Prepare 2D and 3D CAD design calculations, drawings and specifications
  • Able to work with LIDAR point clouds, verify and control surveys and geographic data for design purposes
  • Design, create drawings and perform drafting tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulation in health and safety related to design
  • Ensure that the projects' needs are met in a timely and effective manner
Skills / Qualifications
  • Civil Engineering Technology/Technologist Diploma or Civil Engineer Degree 
  • Eligible or registered Professional Engineer or registration with OACETT considered an asset 
  • Must have 3+ years of related professional experience
  • Experience in AutoCAD and 3D CAD using Civil3D, Microstation/InRoads considered an asset
  • Experience in civil infrastructure, DTM surfaces, alignment, grading and drainage design would be an asset
  • Experience in the preparation of design drawings and tender documents
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to switch between tasks and assignments as required
