Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager will be a member of VBC's U.S. Project Delivery Team. In this role you will assist with managing the development and execution of a project(s) from early design through manufacturing. Starting with the design phase, you will work cross-functionally with internal departments and stakeholders to help turn the concept into reality. You will use project management tools, processes, and best practice methodologies to assist in the management scope, schedule, and cost.

This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience in the AEC or manufacturing sectors who is ready to take the next step in their career. Youโ€™ll work alongside project managers and cross-functional teams to support the delivery of innovative modular construction projects. The role offers hands-on exposure to the full project lifecycle and is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and is eager to grow into a leadership position over time.

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for representing VBC, both internally and externally, in a manner that aligns with our brand and core values.

Key Responsibilities

Project Lifecycle Support

  • Assisting managing projects from concept through design, manufacturing, construction, and client handoff under PM supervision.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage approval of all submittals.
  • Review submittals for conformance with project specifications.
  • Monitor and route RFIs to ensure timely and streamlined communication.
  • Schedule and organize factory and field inspections/punch lists.
  • Support project closeout documentation compilation and submission.

Schedule Management

  • Monitor and maintain the project master schedule daily.
  • Communicate and record potential delays, deviations, risks, and inaccuracies.
  • Schedule project meetings and generate/distribute meeting minutes.

Documentation and System Management

  • Maintain project-level file organization within folder structure.
  • Upload and manage latest design drawings in the project management system.
  • Ensure stakeholders are informed of design updates.

Budget and Financial Oversight

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining the project budget.
  • Review client billings against design, manufacturing, and construction progress.
  • Support review and approval of subconsultant and subcontractor invoices.
  • Assist in financial and progress reporting to PM leadership.

Internal Cross Functional Leadership

  • Develop close working relationships with cross-functional team members (e.g., Project Architect, Systems Lead, Procurement Lead).
  • Support coordination across design, manufacturing, and construction disciplines.
  • Assist tracking procurement progress to ensure material availability, especially long lead time items
  • Review project quality assessments from the Manufacturing Quality teams to understand and report on project health during the manufacturing process.
  • Coordinate with logistics team and all stakeholders to ensure implementation of the shipping and set plan.
  • Responsible for reporting project health, including budget, schedule, design progress, procurement progress, manufacturing execution, etc.

Communication & Personal Development

  • Maintain clear communication across all levelsโ€”field crews, consultants, executives.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support internal initiatives to improve project delivery processes and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with the project management team to drive lessons learned feedback loop to internal team to improve standardization and efficiency.
  • Learn and develop skills necessary to independently manage projects in the future.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand contract drawings: architectural, engineering, required.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities required.
  • Familiarity with AIA contract documents and exhibits is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels, both internal and external.
  • Highly organized and motivated individual.
  • Positive attitude, ability to motivate both colleagues and all people involved in a project preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Experience with industry specific software and technology (e.g., SAP, BIM360, Smartsheet).
  • Ability to work independently.

Additional Information

The Salary Range for this position is $75,000 - $105,000 annual base salary + annual performance bonus. We also off the following benefits:โ€ฏ
