Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Coordinator with a specialty in Mining Engineering to manage and oversee all aspects of our ongoing mining projects. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating project activities, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. In this site-based role you will work closely with project managers, mine supervisors and mine planners to ensure all mine components are aligned and executed according to the project schedule, scope, and budget.
Your keen attention to detail, ability to communicate effectively, and organizational skills will be critical in ensuring that the project runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently from start to finish. With your coordination expertise, you'll help drive the success of mining projects, ensuring the integrity and safety of the construction process.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations of mine planning and mine construction projects

  • Utilize mine planning software for drill & blast design as well as overall mining strategy on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.

  • Help convert a 5 year mine plan and a 3 month rolling mine plan into weekly execution plans.

  • Work closely with project management to monitor project schedules, budgets, and mine resource allocation

  • Manage communication between internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely execution of mine project tasks.

  • Review and interpret construction drawings, technical documents, and specifications to ensure all work complies with project requirements

  • Prepare and track progress reports, change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation

  • Ensure that all work activities are completed in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards

  • Perform site visits to monitor progress, verify work quality, and resolve any issues on-site

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of mine activities, including material and equipment tracking

  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders as required

  • Provide support to project teams by facilitating meetings, ensuring proper documentation, and tracking project milestones

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project coordination or mining engineering, specifically within the mining industry

  • Strong knowledge of mining construction processes, with a focus on hard rock open pit mining

  • Proficiency in using project management software (Procore, MS Project, or similar), as well as Microsoft Office Suite

  • Previous drafting experience and experience with mine planning software would be considered an asset - Programs such as Datamine Studio OP, Trimble Business Center, Carlson or Surpac

  • Ability to read and interpret mine plans, drawings, specifications, and contracts

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively

  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance

  • Degree or diploma in Mining/Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is an asset
