Position Summary

Kaiker Development + Construction is hiring a Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of commercial, mixed-use, multifamily, residential, and community-development projects. Kaiker provides development, construction-management, and general-contracting services in Cincinnati, with a collaborative, solution-focused approach from preconstruction through closeout.


This role supports Project Managers and field teams with project coordination, documentation, subcontractor compliance, procurement, cost tracking, scheduling, and closeout. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.


Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with planning, scheduling, project documentation, and execution.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, superintendents, and consultants.
  • Attend meetings; prepare meeting minutes, track action items, and follow up on deadlines.
  • Maintain drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, correspondence, and electronic project files.
  • Prepare and track subcontracts, purchase orders, COIs, W-9s, workers’ compensation documents, licensing, safety records, and other compliance requirements.
  • Assist with bid solicitation, bid comparisons, subcontractor buyout, material procurement, and long-lead-item tracking.
  • Help maintain budgets, commitments, invoices, change orders, and cost reports.
  • Support schedule updates, subcontractor coordination, inspections, testing, utility approvals, and field issue resolution.
  • Assist Superintendents with jobsite coordination, quality control, punch lists, and project progress tracking.
  • Support safety, permit, and applicable project-compliance requirements, including Davis-Bacon, Section 3, and MBE/WBE requirements when applicable.
  • Collect warranties, O&M manuals, as-builts, lien waivers, closeout documents, and final punch-list items.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience considered.
  • 1 to 5 years of construction experience is preferred; internships or co-ops are a plus.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and bid documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu and Adobe Acrobat required or strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Procore, PlanGrid, Microsoft Project, or similar construction-management software preferred.
  • Strong organization, communication, follow-up, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.


Preferred Experience

  • Commercial, multifamily, affordable-housing, municipal, institutional, or publicly funded construction.
  • Urban redevelopment, infill, renovation, design-build, or CM/GC projects.
  • Public compliance requirements, including prevailing wage, Davis-Bacon, Section 3, and MBE/WBE participation.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to visit active construction sites and work indoors or outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb stairs or ladders when needed, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
